Convex Foliated Projective Structures and the Hitchin Component for Psl4(r)

In this article we give a geometric interpretation of the Hitchin component T (Σ) ⊂ Rep(π1(Σ),PSL4(R)) of a closed oriented surface of genus g ≥ 2. We show that representations in T (Σ) are precisely the holonomy representations of properly convex foliated projective structures on the unit tangent bundle of Σ. From this we also deduce a geometric description of the Hitchin component T (Σ, Sp4(R...

Projective Moduli for Hitchin Pairs

In the paper [2], Hitchin studied pairs (E,φ), where E is a vector bundle of rank two with a fixed determinant on a curve C and φ : E −→ E ⊗ KC is a trace free homomorphism, and constructed a moduli space for them. This moduli space carries the structure of a non-complete, quasi-projective algebraic variety. Later, Nitsure [5] gave an algebraic construction of moduli spaces of pairs (E,φ) over ...

Convex Real Projective Structures on Compact Surfaces

The space of inequivalent representations of a compact surface S with χ(S) < 0 as a quotient of a convex domain in RP by a properly discontinuous group of projective transformations is a cell of dimension

Convex projective structures on Gromov–Thurston manifolds

Gromov and Thurston in [10] constructed, for each n 4, examples of compact n– manifolds which admit metrics of negative curvature, with arbitrarily small pinching constants, but do not admit metrics of constant curvature. We review these examples in Section 3. The main goal of this paper is to put convex projective structures on Gromov– Thurston examples. Suppose that RP is an open subset and...
